The river has finally thawed enough to do some late season beaver trapping (mid-February) here in Missouri. Thad and Mark Clark spent 5 days on the Grand River and brought home 21 beaver. The largest one topped out at 68 lbs with the majority of them being over 60 lbs. They were using 1TS-96 Thompson Snares; 5/64" diameter cable, 96 inches long with rebar stake ends.

Gene McNutt from Chapel Hill, TN used a 2S-60 (3/32")to capture this coyote in November 2009. Mr. McNutt raises sheep and goats and has been working to eliminate the coyote threat to his herd. If you look closely you will see where he used a piece of duct tape to ensure the tree lock was secure.

Thad used our 1TS-60 (5/64") snare to capture this nice beaver early in the season here in Missouri.

Our seven year old son, Gus, had the time of his life early in the trapping season. The photo below has him proudly displaying his first solo catch. He chose the area, baited and set the trap himself and ran his line after school. His hard work paid off on the second day. His sister was almost as excited.

There's nothing like running your line and finding a nice coyote waiting for you. For those states that require cable restraint usage, our Thompson Release Lock with the patented break-away pin does a great job holding canines, as you can see below. Thad used a 1S6-CR (5/64") for this set.

Deer season is almost as exciting around our house as trapping/snaring season. This year was a particularly memorable one as our oldest two kids tagged their first deer. Maddie shot a nice doe opening morning making Dad proud by dropping her with one shot as she was turned toward them. A few weeks later during our antlerless only season, Gus was able to take a button buck late in the day. Both are anxiously awaiting next November when they can try their luck again.

Thad and I enjoy taking the kids with us when ever we can. Although our youngest, Shelby, isn't quite big enough to go every day, we had the opportunity to take her with us when checking the trap line a few weeks ago. She loved the 4-wheeler ride and was excited to see he caught a coon. She wanted to be sure and have her picture taken with it to show her friends.
