Our Past...  Our Present...  Our Future...

In 1927, Raymond Thompson patented the first steel snare; a design that is still widely used today.  Mr. Thompson operated The Raymond Thompson Company until his death in the mid-1980's at which time ownership transferred to his grandson, Dick Sinrud.  Mr. Sinrud continued his grandfather's innovations in the snaring industry throughout his ownership in the company.  His most recent accomplishment being the patenting of the Thompson™ New Release Lock; a device that allows snaremen the opportunity to abide by state and federal cable restraint regulations while also allowing the re-use of some snares.  The company name was changed to Thompson Snares in 2007.

With the future harvesting of fur bearing animals and animal control on our minds, we purchased Thompson Snares from Mr. Sinrud in June of 2009 and relocated the business to Northeast Missouri.  It is our goal to continue providing the same quality products and materials Thompson Snares has been known for over the last 85 years.  Our first task will be to expand the line of Cable Restraint products with an improved anchoring system.  The new system will make the restraints easier to set while keeping snaremen in compliance with state regulations.

The feral hog population continues to burden farmers and landowners throughout Southern and Southeastern United States.  Thompson Snares has worked with several states and US territories to improve a specialized "pig snare" to attempt to control the wild hogs.  We encourage any state agency or individual to contact us for more information on these products and how they might benefit your area in controlling the population.

Our commitment to God and family has given us the opportunity to carry on the tradition that began so many years ago by Raymond Thompson.  We look forward to continue serving our loyal customers as well as making new friends as we move forward.

Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or suggestions you have for custom snares or cable restraints.  Thanks for your interest in our products.  We look forward to working with you.  In the mean time, take a kid trapping, hunting or fishing and share our heritage and our passion.

Thanks!!
